First Insurance Charitable Foundation Donates More Than $400,000 To Local Nonprofits In 2013: Giving Increased by More Than $28,000 Compared With 2012

The First Insurance Company of Hawaii (FICOH) Charitable Foundation donated more than $400,000 in 2013 to 75 local nonprofit organizations, compared to $372,000 in Foundation donations for 2012.

The 2013 beneficiaries included the University of Hawaii Foundation (including for the 55 by ’25 Campaign that aims to have 55% of working-age adults hold a two- or four-year degree by the year 2025), the Hawaii Community Foundation, Enterprise Honolulu, Japan-America Society of Hawaii, Teach for America, American Red Cross and Aloha United Way.

“We congratulate our many local nonprofits for continuing to strive for a better and stronger Hawaii, and are happy to do our part as a local company,” said FICOH CEO Allen Uyeda. “We look forward to helping more organizations carry out their missions in 2014.”

Established in 1998, the FICOH Foundation has four areas of focus – Education & Career Development; Economic & Workforce Development; Family, Social Services & Health Care; and Civic, Culture and the Arts. The Foundation also matches gifts to eligible nonprofits made by FICOH staff members.
