In 2020, First Insurance Company of Hawaii (FICOH) donated more than $775,000 to 71 local nonprofit organizations.
Among the charities that received donations were Aloha United Way, American Heart Association, American Red Cross, Bishop Museum, Easterseals Hawaii, Hawaii Foodbank, Hawaii Meals on Wheels, Honolulu Museum of Art, Straub Foundation, The Queen’s Medical Center, Hawaii Public Radio, Helping Hands Hawaii, and University of Hawaii Foundation. Of the total donations, $130,000 went toward COVID-19 response and recovery campaigns.
Though most in-person community events were cancelled or postponed in 2020 due to COVID-19, that didn’t stop FICOH associates from helping out where they could. Associates in the First Insurance Community Action Team (First CAT) volunteered at several events including Sustainable Coastlines Hawaii’s Island Wide Cleanup and two Hawaii Foodbank drive-thru distributions at Aloha Stadium.
In addition to donating their time, associates gave generously to and helped fundraise for a variety of organizations including the American Heart Association, Alzheimer’s Association, and Aloha United Way. Associates also went above and beyond in donating food and supplies to drives benefiting the Hawaiian Humane Society, OneSight, Hawaii Foodbank, and Institute for Human Services.
