HONOLULU – Continuing their annual tradition of supporting Aloha United Way (AUW), First Insurance Company of Hawaii (FICOH) associates donated $24,000 to AUW through e-pledges and fundraising events. The First Insurance Foundation made an additional contribution of $15,000, for a grand total donation to AUW of $39,000.

FICOH associates kicked off their AUW fundraising campaign in August 2023 with an international food fest, which raised more than $2,800 with all proceeds going to Maui United Way. Events during the remainder of the year included a coffee and donut sale and laughter-filled “Pie-A-Friend” fundraiser held outside FICOH’s headquarters, which raised $1,200.

“We’re proud to continue our support of AUW and their partner agencies and the important work they do in our community,” said Todd Takayama, FICOH president and CEO. “For more than three decades, our associates have energized our AUW campaigns through their personal donations, community spirit and teamwork.”

“First Insurance has consistently supported Aloha United Way for more than 30 years, with contributions totaling more than $1.6 million dollars over that time,” said Jenna Richards, AUW business development manager. “Because of the shared commitment of FICOH and other businesses, AUW was able to make an immediate impact in the aftermath of the Maui fires, aiding swift disaster response, creating a fund, managing 211 Helpline calls, and providing emergency financial assistance to more than 7,000 fire survivors.”
