Awarded Gold Level Recognition by Association's 2023 Workforce Wellbeing Scorecard™

The American Heart Association has awarded First Insurance Company of Hawaii (FICOH) national Gold level recognition for its commitments to employee health and well-being as measured in the Association’s 2023 Workforce Well-being Scorecard™. FICOH is the only Hawaii-based company to receive Gold level recognition for 2023. It has been awarded Gold in five of the past six years.

The Scorecard is designed to help employers evaluate the culture of health and well-being within their workforces to identify gaps and determine how their progress stacks up with peer organizations. Studies have shown that healthy employees are more productive and use less sick time, and organizations who create a culture of health in the workplace can improve employee retention and bolster their organizational reputation. 1

“The American Heart Association’s Workforce Well-being Scorecard helps us stay on top of the latest advancements in workforce health and well-being so we can create the best environment possible for our people and our business,” said Janis Kushimi, vice president, human resources. “We are dedicated to building a culture that helps everyone thrive, both in and out of the workplace.”

FICOH’s wellness program includes an online health management system in which associates can earn cash rewards by participating in activities; annual biometric and health risk assessments that provide associates with individual reports on their overall well-being and health; and wellness events organized by an employee committee. In addition to comprehensive health benefits, FICOH offers attractive time-off benefits, generous parental and family leave, flexible work options, and a corporate 401(k) match.
