Tatsuya Fujimoto Appointed Deputy CEO and  Yuji Soda Promoted to Vice President of Strategic Planning

HONOLULU – First Insurance Company of Hawaii (FICOH) has appointed Tatsuya “Tatsu” Fujimoto deputy CEO and promoted Yuji Soda to vice president of Strategic Planning. Both positions took effect April 1, 2023.

Fujimoto spent several weeks with FICOH back in 2017 as part of Tokio Marine Holdings’ training program for high potential leaders. He has returned to FICOH on an interim basis to support FICOH in developing its executive bench and carrying out its strategic initiatives.

“Tatsu rejoins FICOH with a lot of executive experience and familiarity with our local team. I’m excited to have him back and confident in the contributions he will make while serving as a bridge to our future,” said Todd Takayama, president and CEO. “Yuji continues to steer our strategic planning efforts with skill and insight. We are grateful to Tatsu and Yuji for their dedication and commitment to FICOH’s growth and success."

Prior to rejoining FICOH, Fujimoto served as senior vice president of Strategic Planning at Tokio Marine America Insurance Company in New York. He previously served as the general manager of Corporate Strategy at Tokio Marine in Malaysia and as executive assistant to Tokio Marine’s Group CEO. Fujimoto has a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from Keio University in Tokyo and completed the advanced management program at Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Since joining FICOH in March 2019, Soda has helped to guide several of the company’s strategic and tactical planning efforts, including the multi-year project modernizing the company’s systems and processes. Prior to FICOH, Soda spent 14 years working for Tokio Marine in sales, corporate planning, and human resources. Soda has a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Tokyo.

FICOH is a longtime member of the Tokio Marine Group, a global insurance leader headquartered in Japan with group companies in the U.S. and around the world.
